Larry PierceFor many years, I grabbed every opportunity I could to express my creative side through woodworking as a side business, while working for Boeing in safety and health. While my former full-time occupation served me well, today my wife and I work the business together, full time. Additionally, a continuous thread throughout my lifetime is the love of being on, and near, the water - whether that is fresh or sea water. Over the years, those interests included the enjoyment of salt water aquariums, acquiring a boat, certified diver, deep sea charters in the Bahamas and working with family members on their boats to make them mechanically sound or enhance the wood. Owning a maritime business the last five years has brought much satisfaction where water and wood work for me, so to speak.
Sharon PierceFor as long as I can remember, finding creative outlets always brought out the best for me. Whether painting or varnishing canvas, walls, teak rails, furniture or small projects, I loved working with brushes, applying a variety of products. I didn’t always like the sanding part - today I find sanding an art, in itself. I now know what it will be like when I apply the brush if the surface is sanded properly. Without proper surface preparation, the quality of the finish will be affected. Early on, I teamed with my daughter, helping with her clients' boats. It was a good fit for me so, I continued to learn - through workshops, education, and much hard work - until it seemed the right time to own a business that specialized in marine varnishing. |
