What are faux and specialty wall treatments? Faux and decorative painting has been around since prehistoric times. Naturally, we have a different way of decorating our walls today. People have always surrounded themselves with what most likely expresses who they are, representations of their interests, and enjoy the colors and textures they are comfortable with. Egyptians, Romans and Greeks found ways to express what mattered to them and document daily activity. Most of us are aware of the religious art during the Middle ages. Faux finishes today often depict Italian frescos and Tuscan textures. When European decorative painting became popular among the elite, furniture and moldings took on a gold leaf and gilded look. Marble effects, wood graining and trompe l’oeil became popular into the 19th. century in palaces but soon homes also carried these themes. These applications had ups and downs until the last 40 years. As materials improved the popularity of faux and decorative painting has once again resurfaced. So, can just any faux finisher who contracts for homes do this? We suppose they could. We differ from this skilled group, since in all our applications and designs, we serve the marine community. We ensure that our finishes are compatible with this environment. Through our varnishing and painting services, we know our marine products, their reactions and interactions as well as our designer wall products. We are able to incorporate top-of-the-line marine products into professional grade specialty finish products to deliver mold, mildew and resistant finishes. We change the substrate and use various coatings to accomplish this. If a permanent application is not desirable, there are options to consider, while achieving the same look. Imagine an old world or contemporary feel, or a nautical theme embedded in the main cabin or salon. We are able to create specially-designed images, just for you, that will be subtle, classy, and a great conversation piece. How about a brick look above the galley stove, or a rich leather look? It is important to us that we clearly hear your ideas and see your vision. We schedule a consultation with you at no charge, brainstorm ideas collaboratively, show you sample boards for your consideration, then make up three sample boards - free of charge - once you decide to move forward. Below are some examples for your review.
